Dolhain

In the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth century sanatoria were built across the world in order to prevent the spreading of tuberculosis the dense industrialising cities. These buildings were often constructed in calm areas far away from cities. Near the Walloon city of Liège you can find the sanatorium / preventorium Dolhain. The building was constructed shortly after the Second World War and was meant as a children’s hospital. A place where children were sent to if they thought they were developing tuberculosis. As of today the building is left in ruins.
