I’m Mika Lans

My education

Hi! My name is Mika Lans and I’m an English teacher from Boxtel, The Netherlands. I am currently studying for my B.Ed. at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Tilburg. During my studies I also studied in Glasgow, Scotland for half a year at the University of Glasgow.

My interests

The reason why I chose to teach English is not just because of the language, though it is amazing. It’s also the rich history and culture of the British Isles and its offspring the United States and the Commonwealth. Brilliant authors such as Shakespeare, Joyce, Orwell and Frye. They really pulled me toward the subject. I not only want to teach pupils the language and how to use it. I want to show them the diverse cultures that surround it and broaden their horizons.

Besides that I also enjoy travelling. Exploring places in the Netherlands and Belgium as well as travelling further away from home to countries such as (former East) Germany, the United Kingdom and more. Whilst travelling I will often take a ton of photos. Photography for me is capturing the things I appreciate, such as architecture and skylines. After a trip I can spend a lot of time editing the photos on my computer, which is another hobby of mine: working with computers.
